Thursday's Thumbs

Thumbs Up!

Game- Ok, this is the night you've waited for... a game I have in store.... LOL. The other night in my GNO post I mentioned a game that we played that was fun. The game is called Uno Attack! (or in the UK or Canada it's called Uno Extreme). This is not the Uno game of your childhood. There are exciting new cards and an electric card shooter. When you can't play a card (or if certain cards are played that tell you to push the button) and you push a button you may get no cards or it may shoot 5 or 8 cards at you! This is not a game for the jumpy! It was super fun, especially when someone is about to go out and they get a handful of cards shot at them! Yeah! Take that!

Salad- Last night we tried for the first time a Dole Salad Kit. The one we tried was a Caesar Salad. It comes with romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, grated Parmesan cheese and a convenient packaged dressing. It was super yummy! I didn't think I'd like it because I am so picky about my salads, but I am happy I was surprised. I went and bought another packet today. While I was there I also picked up the Taco Toss Kit and we had that tonight with enchiladas. It too was super yummy. It comes with crisp iceberg, romaine, red cabbage, carrots, radishes, crispy tortilla strips, shredded cheddar cheese and salsa ranch dressing. The salsa ranch dressing is YUM!!!

Crest White Strips- Ok, I was really sceptical about these little buggars. I thought for sure that the spaces where my teeth met would be left untouched and that it would do uneven bleaching, but it hasn't! They kind of bubble up with the solution of 14% Hydrogen Peroxide and get in all the cracks. The dentist told me to do it twice a day for 21 days but it only took about 14 days and not twice a day to get my teeth as white as I would like them to. I was very impressed with how quickly they worked and how easy it was. Just make sure not to eat or drink anything but water for at least 30 minutes after each treatment.

Thumbs Down!

I have no thumbs down for this session.

Oh Yeah! Duh!

I totally forgot today was Thursday! Forgive me, it was a super busy day.
Thumbs Up!
Movie- Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium. Oh my gosh, this was a super wonderful movie. I so loved it! Dustin Hoffman was brilliant, the story was touching and magical. I will for sure be buying this one! Ten thumbs up!
Movie- The Golden Compass- Ok, I know I gave this a Thumbs Down! a few months ago. However I did decide to watch it, based on my friend's recommendation. I think separate from the fact of who wrote the story, and the books, this movie in it's self was a really great movie. I loved the special effects, the little girl in it was a great actress (I have issues with child actors) and I liked the story, it was very creative. I rented the movie, but probably will not buy it because I don't want my kids to want to get into the books, so it's probably a movie we will forget about.
Thumbs Down!
Movie- The Bee Movie- This movie bored my kids, it wasn't a great story, it was just ok. I'm not a tree hugger, so maybe that's one reason I didn't find it so fascinating.
On a side note: during my busy day today I had to travel downtown to Minneapolis, and exit right before the spot where the I-35W bridge had collapsed into the Mississippi river. On my way back onto the freeway I could see the construction very clearly. It was the first time I've been down there since the collapse. I'd been on it just days before it fell last summer, I was on it with Gina, even just days before! It was very sad to see it and remember what happened.
When I got on the freeway, it was weird entering a freeway, trying to build up speed and merge, and then remember there's nobody there to merge with because the road is gone from behind you.

Thursday's Thumbs

Thumbs Up!
Movie- The Water horse- Ok, I heard rumors that this had scary parts for kids, but my kids weren't really bothered by them. Maybe I've desensitized them, or maybe other people's kids are more sensitive. Either way, this was a good movie and I liked it a lot. I like how mostly realistic the water horse looked.

Toothpaste- Colgate Total- I've had a history of bad teeth and rapid decay issues. I started using this toothpaste at least twice a day for the last 5 years. A couple of weeks ago I had my first dental visit in four years. I had only one small cavity. I owe it all to Colgate Total! It saved the rest of my teeth! I can't rave about it enough.

Book- Miracles on Maple Hill- by Virginia Sorensen. A friend from church borrowed me this book. I think she said the author is LDS. It's kind of for teenagers, or younger readers like age 10-14. It's an easy read. I liked the storyline and the author's writing style. I almost felt like I could see all the forest and farmlands around them. It's a warming story full of promise and hope.

Thumbs Down!
I have no Thumbs Down for this issue.
